Introducing Dad Posts
This collection of life lessons is dedicated to my children, Emme and Callum. I hope they serve as a reminder of my love and a source of guidance in the years ahead.
For me, the concept of Game of Inches has always been a mindset with broad application and meaning. One that touches on all aspects of the often intertwining values and lessons in both investing and life.
It felt right to dedicate a small portion of this publication to exploring those values and lessons I’ve collected in my (arguably short) time as a parent so far.
My greatest gift
The most meaningful, important role in my life, is being a father to my two children, Emme and Callum, and any other children we may be blessed with in the future.
First and foremost, this means loving them with everything I’ve got. Our greatest collective contribution to our future world is the way we shape our generations to come. I truly believe when humans are raised in “love and trust”, we are laying the most powerful foundational piece that will ultimately make the world a better place.
Secondly, caring for them and supporting them physically, emotionally and spiritually. This encompasses everything from feeding them and providing a safe place to live to guiding and supporting their emotional and spiritual journeys as they unfold.
One of the greatest gifts I’ve received as a father is the opportunity to be a teacher for my kids, and in many ways, a student of theirs.
I have always gotten so much value from those who explicitly share their learnings. Many of these people have helped me shape my own value system—whether that be the values I invest by, or live by. This is what I hope to do for my own kids with the learnings I’ll be sharing in Dad Posts.
Many will be short and simple. Some will be long and complex. All will be inspired by others who have taught me, and the application of these lessons in my own life.
Dad Posts will arrive in your inbox once a month as a bonus series, alongside the Investing articles that make up a large part of Game of Inches.
To Emme and Callum—I love you with all my heart, and I hope this series not only serves as a reminder of that love, and a source of guidance in your own lives, but that it also shows you how much you have taught me in just the fraction of our lives that we have spent together so far.
